Ebron was one of an estimated 1,000 bowlers from all skill levels who took part in Junior Achievement’s 40th annual “Bowling on the River” Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser, held over the last two Saturdays at Billy Hardwick’s All Star Lanes in East Memphis.

This year, the Bowl-A-Thon is expected to raise more than $160,000, easily topping last year’s tally of $110,000, organizers said Saturday, March 28.

The event is Junior Achievement’s biggest annual fundraiser, contributing a significant amount to the organization’s $3.2 million annual budget, said president and CEO Leigh Mansberg (who also confessed to being a terrible bowler).

That money goes to fund a staff of 20 full and part-time personnel who work with more than 40,000 kids in area schools to better prepare them for their future through career development, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, Mansberg said.
